I feel I should warn you.
This time next week, I’ll be in Texas. About to embark on my journey into the ‘The Daring Way’ arena with Brene Brown. And because of this, I will likely be gushing about all things Brene Brown and Daring Greatly and shame and vulnerability and courage and wholehearted living and empathy and…..well, you get the picture.
So consider yourself warned.
To say I’m super amped about this course would be an understatement. From the moment I ‘virtually’ met this woman I’ve been in awe. She gives language to all the craptastic emotions and feelings that we do NOT want to look at in private, let alone talk about in public.
And it’s because of that, I want to learn more. Not only for me, but for my coaching clients who struggle with shame as well but don’t even know where to start.
I’m with Brene in believing that shame is an epidemic in our world. Shame is what keeps us quiet. Small. Looking down. And ultimately believing that we’re all alone and ‘not normal’.
I want to bust open the doors and share stories. Build community. Show support. Be counted. And know that we all matter simply because we are here.
For those that aren’t familiar with Brene’s work, start by watching her two TED talks <—– I made life easy for you and posted them here so you can take a gander. I promise it’s time well spent. You can thank me later. 😉
The Power of Vulnerability (over 13 million views and counting!! Methinks she struck a chord here)
Listening to Shame (the follow-up talk and where she discusses ‘Daring Greatly’ as well as how shame affects men as well)
Then watch this website (or sign up for the newsletter which I PROMISE to actually get going this year) for information on the workshops I’ll be conducting utilizing all the juicy goodness I get from my trip to Texas (I’ll have to wash the BBQ sauce off my fingers first…must remember that).
